10 Days Best Of Rwanda safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our company guide who will transfer you to your accommodation in Kigali. In the afternoon, you can visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a sobering and important museum that pays tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
After breakfast, you will leave Kigali and head to Akagera National Park, a beautiful savannah park located on the border with Tanzania. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours, and you will arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can go on a game drive to see animals such as elephants, giraffes, buffalos, and zebras.
After an early breakfast, you will go on a boat safari on Lake Ihema, the largest lake in Akagera National Park. During the boat safari, you can see animals such as hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.
In the afternoon, you can go on another game drive to see more wildlife.
After breakfast, you will leave Akagera National Park and head to Nyungwe Forest National Park, a beautiful rainforest located in southwestern Rwanda. The journey takes approximately 6 hours, and you will arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can relax at your lodge or take a guided nature walk to see some of the park’s unique wildlife, such as colobus monkeys and chimpanzees.
After an early breakfast, you will make your way to the park headquarters for a briefing on the chimpanzee trekking rules and regulations. You will then set off into the forest with your guide and trackers, in search of one of the habituated chimpanzee families. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will spend an unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat.
In the afternoon, you can take a nature in the forest viewing some of the park’s other unique wildlife, such as the blue monkey and the L’Hoest’s monkey in the lush forest.
After breakfast, you will go on a canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park. The canopy walk takes you through the forest canopy, providing a unique perspective on the park’s wildlife and scenery.
In the afternoon, you can take a guided nature walk or relax at your lodge.
After breakfast, you will leave Nyungwe Forest National Park and head for volcanoes national park (approximately 4 hours). Check into your accommodation and rest for a while. In the afternoon, you can visit the nearby Musanze Caves or visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo for a scenic walk.
Wake up early in the morning for breakfast and briefing at the park headquarters. You’ll then embark on a gorilla trekking experience in the forest with a trained guide. After the trek, you can relax at your accommodation or visit the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to learn more about the local culture.
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing and start your golden monkey trekking experience in the forest with a guide. After the trek, you can visit the nearby Buhanga Eco-Park to learn about traditional medicine and the local flora and fauna.
After enjoying your breakfast you will drive back to Kigali or to your next destination enjoying the scenic drive through the cultivated farm and countless terraces on rolling hills until Kigali
