Detailed 8 days Best of Rwanda Safari Itinerary
Day one : Pick up from the airport
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our representative who wil greet you , brief you about your safari and about Rwanda and later will introduce you to your guide/ driver. After this brief introduction the your driver will drive you to for through Kigali, enjoy the city tour in the cleanest and safest city in all Africa. You will also visit the genocide memorial and get to find out more about this tragedy and how people are moving on after it and the impact it has had on them. From the genocide memorial centre in Kigali you will be driven to Mille colline for an overnight and dinner.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National park
After an early breakfast at 8am you will enroute to Nyungwe national park. The drive will take you through spectacular hills and farms along the countryside . Enjoy the drive and stop over at the cultural museum where you will see a lot of traditional treasures and fossils for the people of Rwanda in Rwesero. Proceed with the drive , you will again have a stop over for lunch and refreshments in Butare where you will also visit the Rwanda museum and embark on your journey to Nyungwe national park where you will reach late afternoon. On arrival you will check in Nyungwe forest lodge, or Gisakura guest house , there is also camping within the park for those that would love to camp.
Day three: Chimpanzee trekking
After an early breakfast you will assemble to the park headquarters fo briefing about the chimpanzee trekking .With your packed lunch, water, you will head into the jungle and walk for about 6hrs after trekking and encountering a lot of primates like the black and white columbus monkey, along with different melodies of bird you will get back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation at your lodge. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day four: Canopy walk
After an earkly breakfast, you will fo for the canopy walk, enjoy the adventurous walk on a metallic canopy suspended on trees where view the panomera view of the entire forest from above. Tour the unique feature in the forest , the beautiful waterfalls and swamps as you enjoy the fresh winds from the montane rainforest After the walk you will have lunch and enroute to Lake Kivu travel to Lake Kivu for about 5hrs check in at Lake Kivu Serena or paradise hotel. Enjoy the sea breeze along the lake beach in the evening after which you will have a delicious meal and overnight .
Day five: Boat cruise and beach life
After breakfast you will relax and later get onto the boat cruiser to experience yet another exciting feeling on the water of Lake kivu . You will see a lot of wildlife along the boat cruise and Island as well .
After lunch at the hotel you will pack your bags and enroute to Volcanoes national Park. Enjoy the long drive through the land of a thousand hills with so many ascends and descends on your drive. Check in at five volcanoes lodge, Ingagi lodge or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day six: Gorilla trekking
After a very early breakfast, you will be drive to Volcanaoes national park headquarters in Kinigi with a negative pcr test results. After the briefing and allocation of the gorilla family, you will drive to the starting point depending on the gorilla family allocated to you. With your trekking tools ready and packed lunch , enough drinking water you will go into the forest , after 1hr with the mighty gorillas and taking of photos you will meet your guide at the starting point. Drive back to the lodge for a hot mouth liking meal after lunch and refreshing you can visit the Ellen fossey foundation of and enjoy literature about Dian Fossey. Overnight and dinner as above
Day seven: Dian Fossey tomb visit
After an early breakfast , you will assemble at the park headquarters after briefing about the hike to the tomb , you will drive to the starting point then hike until you reach the tomb. Led by your guide who wil tell you more about Fossey’s legacy and passion to protect the endangered gorillas , you will slope back to your lodge for lunch, dinner and overnight.
Day 8 : Golden monkey trekking and transfer to airport
On this day you are free to visit biwachu cultural centre and experience the tradition of the Rwandese or go for golden monkey trekking. After the activity you will then enroute back through Musanze town and drive to Kigali international airport.
